That sounds ornery as a devotional topic, I know. Typically, in modern society, putting someone ‘in their place’ is considered a derogatory statement; one of aggression, judgment and condemnation. But, today, I want to remind you that you actually ‘must’ put God is His appointed place for your life… it’s a place not only ‘in’ your life, but over and around it. Travelzoneapp He’s not some ornament sitting on your shelf; nor a special bracelet, necklace, ring. His very presence in your life includes His shield, His covering, His assuring security.
Now, too quickly we lose track of the spiritual implications of that, and Psalms 31:20 helps remind us, that; “Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” Therein, we would do well to ‘put God in His place’ in our lives, to allow Him to not only lead and guide us, but protect us, too.
Typically, there are three ‘places’ where God resides in our lives (if at all, mind you); 1) On the Shelf: He adorns your home, thetourntravels but He is rarely part of your daily life, rarely is incorporated in your thoughts or conversations with others. 2) In Our Pockets: He goes through your day, but you only ‘use Him’ as needed (maybe like a pocket-knife, a lighter, or your keys), and 3) In Our Hearts: He is consistently part of your thoughts, regularly in your communication (vertically with Him, and horizontally with others), and rarely do you do anything that would upset you and/or Him. We don’t necessarily wear God like a necklace, or a hat, or even with some ‘fog-horn’ means of communication. As the scriptures say, “… thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee”, which is just the place for God in our lives.
There is a really great story of protection and preservation in Genesis 28:11-16, which found Jacob being ‘blessed’ (saved if you will) by God, but others around him being jealous and envious of his special place in God’s plan. For fear, Jacob fled to the wilderness and was sleeping on the rocks… hiding… fearful, and dejected. The Lord showed him in a dream just how majestic his life will be, and in verses 15-16, God told him; “And, behold, thetripsadvisors I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. (16) And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.”, which is most certainly why we don’t live a victorious life; we need to put God in His place… right there in the heart of our lives, right there as a covering of our sins, and certainly right there as protection from the ‘strife of tongues’ of those envious and jealous ones around us. toursideas His place in your life must be prominent in your thoughts and prayers… one of those ‘and all this time, He was right there’ moments like Jacob had. When you realize the He is Lord of lords, and King of kings, and dwells there in your heart!
